"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." This one is almost a Haiku on it's own.
Come to me, all you
Who are weary and burdened
… I will give you rest.
So instead, let's play with it a little:
You weary? Burdened?
Then come to me, all of you;
I guarantee rest.
That one sounds a little too Madison avenue; God is not a mattress salesman. I do enjoy the challenge of creating these haiku because it forces me to really understand the verse in order to fit the meter of the poem. The danger is that there is no substitute for the original.

Just came over from my brother Jack's blog...as an English teacher, I must say I love your haikus!
Thank you. As a father of sons, I just have to tell you what a blessing it is to have a man like your brother as our youth pastor. He's not just "happy fun guy"; he constantly challenges these kids to lean into The Word. I love that.
